VIDEO: Khylin Rhambo and Aramis Knight React to the PSiO

Here’s a video of Khylin Rhambo (Dink) and Aramis Knight (Bean) doing a video review of the PSiO, which is a pair of audiovisual stimulation glasses that provide audio and color therapy.

Khylin and Aramis do mention Ender’s Game a bit, saying that there were some really emotional scenes that they had to do and that these glasses really would have helped them to get into character.

Unfortunately, these glasses cost $399, so unless PSiO wants to send a pair to a sci-fi movie fansite called EnderWiggin.net for review, I don’t think I’ll get to try them. *cough cough*

  • Cryptozoic’s Ender’s Game TCG to Include Autographed Cards

Cryptozoic’s Ender’s Game TCG to Include Autographed Cards

    Cryptozoic_Entertainment

Thanks to an inquiry by Ender News, we now know that Cryptozoic Entertainment will be releasing autographed cards for their upcoming Ender’s Game trading card game.

It’s unknown at this time which cast members will be participating, but since their other sets seem to nab everyone, I can’t imagine they can’t get all the named cast members to sign cards.

For examples from their other packs, take a look at their Walking Dead set and their Fringe set (um, this Fringe fan is now upset I didn’t know about this before) and their Castle set.

Basically, the you have a 1 in 24 chance at getting an autograph card in your pack. This brings back memories of the pure thrill I used to get finding a hologram in my Upper Deck football cards. 😀

  • Asa Butterfield to Re-team with Chloe Moretz for ‘The White Circus’

Asa Butterfield to Re-team with Chloe Moretz for ‘The White Circus’

    Asa-Chloe

Asa Butterfield will be working with Chloe Moretz again next year as Variety reports that the two young actors are now tied to a film called ‘The White Circus’.

“Circus” is an adventure-romance that takes place on a snowy New Year’s Eve, when a young pilot crashes his plane into a war-torn town on his first mission. There, he falls in love with a beautiful cabaret singer, befriends a talking circus bear and incites the townsfolk to liberate themselves from a despot.

The film will begin shooting in Germany in February 2014.

With schedules for both Asa and Hailee filling up, it makes an Ender’s Game fan start to worry about the stars having time for filming sequels, should there be any…

  • See the ‘Ender’s Game’ Trailer with ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

See the ‘Ender’s Game’ Trailer with ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

    Posters

This post is just a reminder to folks that the Ender’s Game trailer will be making its theatrical debut with Star Trek Into Darkness. And while this can vary from theater to theater, it’s technically supposed to be there!

And a bit of interesting news to go with this reminder: Star Trek Into Darkness is now being released a full day early! Today when I bought my IMAX tickets, I went to double check the date of my tickets and found that they were for a Thursday show. At 7:15 pm.

I thought I was cracking up because I could have sworn it was coming out May 17. Plus, May 16 is a Thursday. I thought maybe Fandango had a glitch.

Turns out, Paramount really is releasing the movie a day early.

Recently, Paramount announced that the general, non-IMAX, release of Star Trek Into Darkness has actually been moved up to May 16. (The IMAX release remains at Wednesday, May 15, at 8pm.) Paramount’s Wednesday night IMAX showings were sold out and the studio wanted to give fans who couldn’t get tickets to the advance IMAX showings a chance to see it.

It’s a good thing I checked my tickets because it it would have sucked to show up with my family to a Friday show only to be told they were for the day before. So how about it launchies? Are you going to see Star Trek early? I’m keeping the trailer as  a surprise for my mom. She’ll seriously flip out and I’m looking forward to it! Hopefully I still have my arm when it’s over though, she might wrench it off in excitement…

Good luck getting the trailer! If you want to buy tickets online before you go, Fandango has a 20% off special right now off gift cards.

  • Nick Meyer on the Uniqueness of ‘Ender’s Game’

Nick Meyer on the Uniqueness of ‘Ender’s Game’

    Nick-Meyer

Former Lionsgate International president Nick Meyer and founder of Sierra/Affinity spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about bringing Ender’s Game to Cannes back in 2011. “Launching Ender’s Game to foreign buyers at Cannes in 2011 was a serious highlight.”

He also gave his thoughts on whether the film can replicate the box office success of Twilight or The Hunger Games, shedding some light on how Ender’s Game became a reality.

THR: There are high expectations for fall’s YA adaptation Ender’s Game. How did the movie come about?

Meyer: Gigi [Pritzker] was a partner in the company and we talked about how we could help with the foreign piece and arrange financing. OddLot and [director] Gavin Hood had developed an outstanding script, and we created a sizzle reel. We sold out in almost every foreign territory, while Summit struck a domestic deal.

THR: Do you think you can replicate the wild success of Twilight or The Hunger Games? Earlier this year, Beautiful Creatures failed to gain a foothold.

Meyer: Ender’s Game is a unique property with a legacy. It’s a book that’s been around for 20 years and it’s back on the New York Times best-seller list. Part of it is the fact that it is required reading in middle schools across the country.

  • Moises Arias Always Stayed in Character on ‘Ender’s Game’ Set

Moises Arias Always Stayed in Character on ‘Ender’s Game’ Set

    Moises

Moises Arias, who plays Bonzo Madrid in Ender’s Game, talked with Backstage and revealed how he stayed in character all the time while doing Ender’s Game.

“I actually stayed in character the whole time I was on set. I heard the extras were scared of me. I wasn’t doing it on purpose, I was just trying to stay in the mindset. At the end they finally started talking to me and admitted to me that I had scared them.”

Fans of the book have noted the big height difference between Asa and Moises, asking why someone who is supposed to intimidate Ender is so much shorter. Moises addresses this as well.

“[W]ith ‘Ender’s Game,’ the character was described as dark-hair, light eyes, six foot tall, bigger than everyone. I’m 5’1”. I’m basically the opposite of that. But I guess it just depends on the vision of the director and how much heart you put into it.”

While I think a lot of us had assumed that his portrayal/audition had convinced director Gavin Hood about his Bonzo, it’s nice to hear it straight from him.

  • Ben Kingsley Found Tā Moko “Very Empowering”

Ben Kingsley Found Tā Moko “Very Empowering”

    Mazer-Rackham

When Sir Ben Kingsley spoke recently to the Wall Street Journal’s Barbara Chai about his character the Mandarin in Iron Man 3, he also spoke briefly about his Ender’s Game role as Mazer Rackham and the facial tattoos, known in Maori tradition as “tā moko”.

He also mentions a bit of Mazer’s background story.

“I had the privilege of being advised and guided by a Maori who knows all about Ta Moko [Maori tattoo] and what each line and design means – its ancestry,” Kingsley said in an interview. “When it’s accurately and beautifully presented, it’s very empowering for the actor. To be able to put that on and allow it to tell its own story, and then you breathe life into it yourself.”

Kingsley said his key into Mazer was that the character loved his Maori father, a warrior whom he had lost in the Great Battle for the planet.

What do you guys think? Is it possible the pilot we’re seeing in the trailer isn’t Mazer, but Mazer’s father?
