‘Ender’s Game’ Soundtrack by Steve Jablonsky Out Today
The Ender’s Game soundtrack, which was composed by Steve Jablonsky and is being released by Varese Sarabande, is available today, October 22, 2013. Fans on Twitter reported yesterday that the soundtrack had shipped. The score features 21 tracks of music composed for the film, out in theaters in just 10 days!

Steve Jablonsky: “Ender’s Game is Big But Also Very Personal”
Ender’s Game composer Steve Jablonsky has given a brief statment about his score for the film, out November 1 2013.
“Ender’s Game is big but also very personal, which is an interesting combination for any composer. For some scenes, I’m using an 80 piece orchestra and 32 member choir, while in other scenes I am using a simple solo instrument. Ender is a very isolated character for much of the film so I felt that a solo cello would play that isolation nicely and it became an important element in the score.”

Listen to an Exclusive 90-Second Preview of Steve Jablonsky’s ‘Ender’s Game’ Score
With Ender’s Game just over 28 days from release, the anticipation is building for longtime fans of the novel worldwide. The movie’s score, which was composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers), will be released on October 22, 2013 and contains a total of 21 tracks.
The nice folks over at Varese Sarabande sent over the score for me to listen to and I’ll admit, despite my claims to resist, I listened to it all night. I’ve managed to resist listening to the finale tracks so far, hopefully I can keep that up until I see the movie.
To give you a taste, I’ve been allowed to pick 90 seconds of music to preview from two tracks. The first 45 seconds comes from “Battle Room” and the latter 45 seconds is from “Dragons Win”. Be sure to listen to it and let us know what you think!

AUDIO: Ender’s Game Trailer Music from Hi-Finesse
Those of you that loved the Ender’s Game trailer music can now listen to the track titled ‘Opus’ by Erich Lee of Hi-Finesse, a movie and video game music production company in Santa Monica, CA.
It’s always been a mystery to me how trailer music is done. Sometimes you just hear mixes of songs, but a lot of trailers seem to have custom music not done by the film’s composer. Hi-Finesse composes custom music scored to picture, so it sounds like the trailer is cut and the music scored around it. No wonder it seemed to flawlessly integrated!
Interestingly enough, Opus was also used in the Percy Jackson trailer, which was released well before the Ender’s Game trailer.
It’s not quite so obvious, playing in the background, so I have no idea! It really sounded like Opus was scored specifically for Ender’s Game and maybe they used it for Percy beforehand?

UPDATE: Steve Jablonsky to Score ‘Ender’s Game’
UPDATE: Summit Entertainment has just confirmed with me that Steve Jablonsky will in fact be scoring Ender’s Game.
While the last we heard of the Ender’s Game score was a rumor that James Horner would be doing the film’s score, this was never actually confirmed by Summit. When checking IMDB (which has the Ender’s Game trailer featured on the front page!) today, I noticed that the film’s composer had been changed to Steve Jablonsky.
If you’re not sure who he is by name, you’d most likely recognize his work from the three Transformers films.

While I was thrilled to hear that James Horner was possibly tied to the project, I’d be really pleased with Jablonsky as well. I thought his scores for all three Transformers movies remained great scores even while the entertainment quality of the third movie dipped rather drastically (in my humble opinion).
This story is still a rumor, as IMDB can be edited by anyone with a premium membership. I’ve contacted Summit about confirmation.

Rumor: James Horner to Score ‘Ender’s Game’
According to Film Music Reporter, two time Academy-award winning composer James Horner has signed on to score the upcoming film adaptation Ender’s Game.
As a longtime fan of Horner’s music in truly amazing scores such as Titanic, Braveheart, and Legends of the Fall, I’m trying my best not to utterly freak out over this possibility. But since the site doesn’t quote a source, I’ve tagged it as a rumor until I can get confirmation.
Horner brings an incredible amount of experience to the film, having scored over 150 films in his career in movie music starting back in 1978.
