‘Ender’s Game’ Trailer to Make Theatrical Debut with ‘Elysium’

While you guys are probably watching the trailer over and over, there’s something about seeing it on the big screen that makes it feel so much more intense and real.

We’ve confirmed with Summit that the Ender’s Game trailer will be making its theatrical debut with Elysium, out this weekend on August 9. Keep in mind that trailers will vary from theater to theater and in my experience, people rarely get the trailer you want by going to a midnight release.

    Good luck!

AUDIO: Ender’s Game Trailer Music from Hi-Finesse

    Hi-Finesse

Those of you that loved the Ender’s Game trailer music can now listen to the track titled ‘Opus’ by Erich Lee of Hi-Finesse, a movie and video game music production company in Santa Monica, CA.

It’s always been a mystery to me how trailer music is done. Sometimes you just hear mixes of songs, but a lot of trailers seem to have custom music not done by the film’s composer. Hi-Finesse composes custom music scored to picture, so it sounds like the trailer is cut and the music scored around it. No wonder it seemed to flawlessly integrated!

Interestingly enough, Opus was also used in the Percy Jackson trailer, which was released well before the Ender’s Game trailer.

It’s not quite so obvious, playing in the background, so I have no idea! It really sounded like Opus was scored specifically for Ender’s Game and maybe they used it for Percy beforehand?

You can listen to their work on Soundcloud. See if you can recognize the following tracks from other film trailers this year!

This post is just a reminder to folks that the Ender’s Game trailer will be making its theatrical debut with Star Trek Into Darkness. And while this can vary from theater to theater, it’s technically supposed to be there!

And a bit of interesting news to go with this reminder: Star Trek Into Darkness is now being released a full day early! Today when I bought my IMAX tickets, I went to double check the date of my tickets and found that they were for a Thursday show. At 7:15 pm.

I thought I was cracking up because I could have sworn it was coming out May 17. Plus, May 16 is a Thursday. I thought maybe Fandango had a glitch.

Turns out, Paramount really is releasing the movie a day early.

Recently, Paramount announced that the general, non-IMAX, release of Star Trek Into Darkness has actually been moved up to May 16. (The IMAX release remains at Wednesday, May 15, at 8pm.) Paramount’s Wednesday night IMAX showings were sold out and the studio wanted to give fans who couldn’t get tickets to the advance IMAX showings a chance to see it.

It’s a good thing I checked my tickets because it it would have sucked to show up with my family to a Friday show only to be told they were for the day before. So how about it launchies? Are you going to see Star Trek early? I’m keeping the trailer as  a surprise for my mom. She’ll seriously flip out and I’m looking forward to it! Hopefully I still have my arm when it’s over though, she might wrench it off in excitement…

Good luck getting the trailer! If you want to buy tickets online before you go, Fandango has a 20% off special right now off gift cards.

  • ‘Ender’s Game’ Trailer to Come with ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’?

‘Ender’s Game’ Trailer to Come with ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’?

Ever since we all heard that some press got to see the trailer at the GAMA Trade Show in Vegas last week, the question everyone seems to be asking is when do the rest of us get to see it?

Someone tweeted to producer Bob Orci asking when we’re getting a trailer, but doesn’t specify if he’s asking about Ender’s Game.

    Bob-Tweet1

In any case, Orci responded with “Yup!” So was he actually talking Ender’s Game here?

Pretty likely. His previous tweet was a link to the Ender’s Game blog post on Tumblr. The only other movie that he’s producing (besides Star Trek) that will be out this year is Now You See Me, but the trailer for that movie has been out for quite a while already.

The unfortunate part about that is that Star Trek Into Darkness isn’t in theaters until May 17. That’s practically two months from now! Do we really have to wait that long for a trailer? I had really hoped to see a trailer attached to movies such as The Host, G.I. Joe: Retaliation (March 29), or Oblivion (April 19).

Or maybe they’ll debut it online and simply start showing it in theaters in Star Trek. What do you think about waiting until May for a trailer?

With the news that a select group of people got to watch the Ender’s Game trailer yesterday at the GAMA Trade Show, Kelly from Ender News and I got together to do Episode 6 of EnderCast.

It was originally titled “Games” after a chapter in the Ender’s Game book, but it quickly became clear that all we were really doing was whining about not getting to see the trailer right now.

In any case, we had a lot of fun with it, so we hope you enjoy. You can listen to Episode 6 here.
