    Abigail Breslin: “I love Valentine!”

Actress Abigail Breslin, whose new movie The Call is out in theaters this weekend, spoke to Collider about her career transitioning and spoke briefly about Ender’s Game. (Skip to 2:51 for the Ender’s Game part)

You have a number of projects coming out, I mean, Ender’s Game. Is it difficult to play a character that’s pre-existing from such a beloved book?

You know, it’s one of those things where you just have to do your best in how you see the character and hopefully people like it and I love Valentine. I love that character. And it was awesome when I was filming, I actually… I went to a guitar store in New Orleans and the people that worked there they were like, “Oh my God, you’re playing Valentine Wiggin, that’s like one of my favorite characters of all time!” and so a lot of people have been really really nice about it and very supportive so I’ve been lucky that they’ve all seemed really cool about it.

Abigail Breslin, who has been doing press all this week for her new movie The Call out this Friday, spoke with Tribute.ca about filming the movie and briefly mentioned Ender’s Game.

You have several movies coming up, but one big one is Ender’s Game.
It was really fun working on that movie. I loved working with Asa Butterfield. It’s fun to meet people and when they ask, “What have you been working on?” and when I say Ender’s Game, they freak out. A lot of people love my character Valentine and they say, “I wish I had a sister like her.” She’s a much-loved character from the book so I hope that I did her justice to the fans out there.

As we get closer to Ender’s Game and more people hear about the movie, it wouldn’t surprise me if people see Abigail Breslin’s name and immediately picture a Valentine the same age as Breslin’s character in Little Miss Sunshine, the role that got her a Best Supporting Actress nomination in the 2007 Academy Awards. After all, that’s basically the age we all imagined Valentine being in the books.

However, Abigail Breslin is about to turn 17, so fans will not only have to “cope” with an older Ender, but an older Valentine as well! Here are some photos of Abigail attending the premiere for her new movie The Call starring Halle Berry yesterday, March 5, 2013.

Here’s a first look at Tyler Shields’ movie ‘Final Girl’, which stars Abigail Breslin (Valentine Wiggin). It’s a trailer, yet not in a traditional sense.

Read the synopsis for the film below:

Loner Veronica is new to school, shy and vulnerable the perfect target for a group of teenage boys who lure girls into the woods to hunt and kill them for sport. It’s only after they get her alone that she turns the tables on them, escaping and revealing she’s armed and knows how to defend herself. Little do they know, Veronica is an assassin-in-training, and she’s chosen killing these boys as her final test. When the dust clears, Veronica will find out if she can be the final girl these boys ever have a chance to hurt.

Breslin plays the “final girl”, which is a horror term for the last girl that encounters the killer or killers of the movie and lives to tell the story.
