A brighter shade of teal would work just as well, and it'd keep to the theme.

She's not a bad choice, appearance wise. I'd say Petra's character is more in her spirit than the way she looks.
If she can capture Petra's elitist tomboyish attitude, she'll be fine.

He's far too old to be "young Ender", but at a good age for the end of the movie.
I know they're leaving a lot of the story line out, but I hope it's not butchered so badly that Ender doesn't age at all.
If it's done properly, this movie can be a huge box office smash and give Asa a ton of publicity.

I don't think there's enough contrast. It can be hard on the eyes unless the text is brightened up a bit, imho.
