    Summit Teams Up with HGTV for Ender’s Game Home Makeover

    As we’ve discovered earlier today (see photo above), Summit has teamed up with Home and Garden TV for its Ender’s Game Experience. According to several news outlets, Summit and HGTV have issued a press release concerning HGTV’s involvement in the Experience as well as the home makeover visitors can hope to win.

    Inside the “Ender’s Game” activation, located outside the Hilton Gaslamp district, HGTV showcases its “Journey Begins at Home” space—an interpretation of the Wiggins home living room—among eight elaborate, specially constructed, unique rooms that represent the most iconic environments of Ender’s world, complete with original film props and set pieces used in the movie.

    Visitors will be able to “enter the sweepstakes for the chance to win $10,000 courtesy of HGTV for their own “out of this world” home makeover.”

    When I first heard of the Ender’s Game Fan Experience, I was in shock. It sounded like they were dragging the entire set to Comic Con for something so epic it just couldn’t be believed!

    Thanks to a photo from @DanoFernandez, we now see now massive the thing is shaping up to be! It’s obviously still being built and I can just imagine the chaos those people are going through to get this up in time for tomorrow.

    Comic Con released their autograph signing schedule and there are two scheduled for cast and crew of Ender’s Game. The first will be held on Thursday morning.

    Summit Entertainment is excited to announce a special autograph signing by Bob Orci, Gavin Hood, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and Abigail Breslin for their upcoming release ENDER’S GAME. Please visit http://www.comic-con.org/cci/autograph-area or the Autograph Area Information Booth for details on how to participate in a Limited Signing Drawing.

    Thanks to a tip by @franiahs and some Google-fu of Ender News, we’ve got some photos taken from an event that took place in Mexico City, sponsored by Cinemex. The road race was themed to several upcoming movies including El Juego de Ender, which is the Spanish title for Ender’s Game.

    Here’s a photo of the t-shirt several racers wore.

    As usual, the young Ender’s Game cast has been really active on Twitter this week, with Abigail Breslin taking home the “Most Obsessive Tweeter” award with 33 original tweets since Monday.

    Moises Arias has been busy promoting his new film The Kings of Summer, which was released this week. He attended a Q & A at the Landmark Theater in LA on Wednesday. Check out Twitter user Devan Abharis photograph of the event (as retweeted by Moises himself).

    Moises also spoke to Papermag about The Kings of  Summer. He briefly mentions Ender’s Game, saying:

    It was honestly one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. It was inspiring to see the professionalism. The cinematography! The special effects look amazing. I’m excited. I’ve gotten to work with the most amazing actors and the most amazing child actors right now.

    Hailee Steinfeld has been spending her time filming the Civil War drama The Keeping Room (with Sam Worthington) and photographing cows in Romania.

    Asa Butterfield has finished school and has left London for warmer pastures as well, spending his summer vacation in Greece.

    According to Vibe, Viola Davis, who will play Major Anderson in the upcoming Ender’s Game movie, is set to appear on next week’s Oprah’s Next Chapter.  The show, which was launched in 2011 on the Oprah Winfrey Network, features Oprah travelling around the country meeting with and interviewing celebrities and other people of public interest. For next week’s installment, Oprah sits down to chat with not only Viola Davis, but also Alfre Woodard, Philicia Rashad, and Gabrielle Union about African American women in the entertainment industry.

    The show will air on Sunday, June 23 at 9/8c. American viewers can check out a sneak peek on oprah.com and youtube.

    Those of you that follow the official Ender’s Game Google+ page can now RSVP for the event that will host  the world premiere of the trailer for Ender’s Game. The trailer will launch via a live Google+ Hangout on May 7 at 1 PM PT/4 PM ET.

    Director Gavin Hood, producer Bob Orci, and Ender himself, Asa Butterfield will be broadcasting live to bring you the trailer. This is definitely one you can’t miss!

    Hailee Steinfeld was at an event with her brother Griffin tonight helping to support Our Military Kids and Ender’s Game fan Hannah asked her cousin Sarah to head there to meet her in the hopes of getting an autographed book and photo.

    As you can see below, Hailee signed it with the name Petra under her own. No doubt one of many to come!

    It was so great getting to meet Hailee! She was super awesome and incredibly nice! She took the time to talk with my daughter and sign everything I brought. Such a great experience!

    Harrison Ford (Colonel Graff) will be attending 23rd Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose.

    The festival, which takes place in downtown San Jose from February 26 to March 9, 2013, will be giving Ford a Maverick Spirit Award in a two hour event at the California Theatre that will take place on March 3, 2013 from 7 PM to 9 PM. Tickets are still available for $30.

    The festival has been added to the Events calendar.

    ‘Earth Unaware’ Book Signing Today in Greensboro, NC

    Authors Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston will be doing a book signing for ‘Earth Unaware‘ at Barnes & Noble at the Friendly Center in Greensboro, NC tonight from 7:00 PM.

    Here’s the synopsis for the book:

    A hundred years before Ender’s Game, humans thought they were alone in the galaxy. Humanity was slowly making their way out from Earth to the planets and asteroids of the Solar System, exploring and mining and founding colonies.

    The mining ship El Cavador is far out from Earth, in the deeps of the Kuiper Belt, beyond Pluto. Other mining ships, and the families that live on them, are few and far between this far out. So when El Cavador’s telescopes pick up a fast-moving object coming in-system, it’s hard to know what to make of it. It’s massive and moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light.

    But the ship has other problems. Their systems are old and failing. The family is getting too big. There are claim-jumping corporates bringing Asteroid Belt tactics to the Kuiper Belt. Worrying about a distant object that might or might not be an alien ship seems…not important.

    They’re wrong. It’s the most important thing that has happened to the human race in a million years. This is humanity’s first contact with an alien race. The First Formic War is about to begin.

    Earth Unaware was released yesterday, July 17. In the book ‘Ender’s Game’, Greensboro, NC is Ender Wiggin’s hometown.

    Aaron Johnston, co-author of the upcoming Ender’s Game prequel Earth Unaware, has published a schedule of book signings for himself, Orson Scott Card, and Emily Janice Card (Card’s daughter).

    Included in these book signings are the chance for you to buy Earth Unaware a few days early, as the book won’t be hitting shelves until July 17.
