On Monday, October 7th, most of the Ender’s Game cast and crew finished their European photo call tour in London (Ford, Hood and Orci went on to Moscow), where they presented the movie at Odeon Theatre during MCM London ComicCon. Before their presentation of Ender’s Game at the Odeon Leicester Square during MCM London Comic Con, Hailee Steinfeld, Sir Ben Kingsley, Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, and Gavin Hood talked to Entertainmentwise about Ender’s Game.

Not much new here, but I get some perverse enjoyment out of the reactions of Ben Kingsley, Asa Butterfield and, yes, Harrison Ford to being asked whether or not they would like to star/are starring in the next Star Wars movie. The Ben Kingsley one is cut off a bit in the beginning. If you’re interested in the whole Star Wars conversation, check it out HERE! Would someone please phone someone to get Ben Kingsley and Asa Butterfield into that movie. Look how excited they are at the prospect!

The fabulous five also talked to a couple of other news outlets prior to their London presentation. We already posted HeyUGuysUK’s interviews with Gavin Hood and Sir Ben Kingsley earlier this week. Their interviews with Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and Harrison Ford don’t reveal anything new, but we didn’t want to keep them from you either way, so here they are:

Finally, The MCM Buzz interviewed the cast and crew on the Comic Con red carpet. Here is a video that collects some tidbits of what Gavin Hood and the four cast members had to say:

You can check out the full interviews with Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Gavin Hood on the TheMCMBuzz Youtube channel. I love the Hailee Steinfeld and Ben Kingsley ones especially.

They even posted a somewhat rarer interview with Gigi Pritzker and Bob Orci. Check it out below.

Gavin Hood on the Grey Areas of ‘Ender’s Game’

    Gavin_Hood

Gavin Hood appeared as a guest at Fan Expo Canada this past weekend and spoke to press about the upcoming Ender’s Game adaptation. In an interview with Metro News, he talks about the difficulties of adapting the book and his interest in the grey areas of the novel.

“Some films masquerade as dealing with moral complexity, but in fact, for me, cop out a little by never putting the protagonist in a truly morally complex situation,” Hood said in a recent interview at the pop culture fest known as Fan Expo Canada. “There are films we can think of where, yes, the protagonist kills people, but actually all the people they kill are bad or awful in some way, (without) that moment of really having to face up to the grey zone, that place where you ask, ‘Am I capable of doing something morally repugnant because I believe it’s for a greater good?’

He also talks a bit about how he sees reactions to his decision to cut Locke and Demosthenes and his wife’s advice on the matter!

“My wife actually says to me, ‘Gavin, you have to stop going on the Internet. It makes you crazy.’ There’s so much chatter,” says Hood. “I found it hard to cut. But it really means you need to make a 15-part miniseries, and I was given the opportunity to make a two-hour film, so my focus was, ‘What can I do in a film that the novel might not be able to do as well?’”

You can read the entire interview at Metro News.

Ender’s Game is at Toronto’s Fan Expo Canada this week and eOneFilms (Canadian distributor) is doing the green screen photos for fans that visit their booth. (photo from msnataliedee) If you’re not sure what Fan Expo Canada is, I wasn’t either, but apparently it’s the Canada’s equivalent of Comic Con.

Director Gavin Hood is there and did a press junket for Ender’s Game, so hopefully we’ll see some interviews coming out for that soon. He’s currently doing an autograph signing at the eOneFilms booth. If anyone snaps a photo please send it in to us at valentine @ enderwiggin.net!

VIDEO: Gamescom Ender’s Game Lasertag Highlights 2

Constantin Film has released their second highlights video “Rules of the Game” from Gamescom. With Dee on vacation, we’ve got a partial translation, thanks to my friend Carla!

UPDATE: We now have a full translation from Dee!

Episode 2: Rules of the Game

What happened so far: 12 female commanders of the International Fleet are looking for the chosen fighter at Gamescom. In cooperation with KEF we have built a gigantic laser tag arena. Here we test the abilties of potential heroes to secure peace for the entire world. AFter you have registered yourself and your team for the laser tag game, you receive a fastlane pass, which will shorten the time you will have to wait in line enormously. One of our commanders will soon take care of you and will prepare you and your team for the Great Game. Each fighter receives an Ender’s Game uniform and a lasertag (gun). The goal is to mark the enemy team with as many laser tags as possible over the course of five minutes. As soon as you are ready for your great moment, the gates to the Ender’s Game laser tag arena will open. Ender’s Game. From October 24 in cinemas.

VIDEOS: Gamescom’s EG Laser Tag Tournament – Trailer and Highlights

Gamescom is in full swing, and Constantin Film has uploaded the first couple of videos of the Ender’s Game Laser Tag Tournament. Check out their first Highlights Report below:

    Here is the translation:

Ender’s Game: The Great Game – Highlights Gamescom Day 1
    Episode 1: Preparations

It is the year 2013. The danger of the aliens invading for a third time is ever-present and still dominates life on Earth. In search of the one chosen warrior who has what it takes to save mankind we’ve pitched our boot camp at the world’s largest interactive gaming and entertainment event: Gamescom. For the next five days, about 300.000 of the most talented warriors of the most diverse backgrounds will meet here. Our administration includes 12 carefully selected commanders of the International Fleet (short: IF). Our boot camp has been equipped with a gigantic laser tag arena. Here, we test the abilities, the strategies and, most importantly, the courage of our soldiers. Since there is likely to be a large crowd, we offer you the chance to register (for free) for a fast lane pass, which will grant you preferential treatment when it comes to participating in the Great Game. Prove your abilities! This is your chance. Build your army and register now at Facebook/Endersgamefilm. The next report from Gamescom will be uploaded tomorrow at noon. Ender’s Game. In Cinemas from October 24.

And if that’s not cheesy enough for you to be thoroughly entertained, here is a fun fact: the guy saying these lines is the German voice of Robert de Niro.

A few days ago, Constantin also released a trailer for the laser tag tournament. In the Cologne area, it has been shown in cinemas to draw a crowd to Gamescom. Unfortunately, the youtube version of it is only viewable in Germany, but here it is anyway:

    Translation:

It is the year 2013. The danger of the aliens invading a third time is ever-present and dominates life on Earth. You are our last hope to find the chosen warrior, one who knows no fear or mercy. Have you got what it takes to be a hero? Ender’s Game – The Laser Tag Challenge. Prove yourself in the laser tag arena only at Gamescom 2013 in Cologne. Build your team and register on Facebook/Endersgamefilm.

(This one is narrated by the German voice of Harrison Ford.)

For those of you who can’t watch the trailer, Crystal made a screencap of the laser tag arena:

    Lasertag

This looks effing awesome! And to imagine that for most of the year I live only about 2 and a half hours from Cologne, and I still couldn’t make it ….

So, what do you think of the laser tag challenge? (Or the dramatic prose, for that matter.) Share your thoughts in the comments!

Yes, it’s a month later and we’re still catching up with Comic Con stuff…

Here are photos of Asa, Hailee, and Aramis at the Summit VIP party on July 18, 2013 at the Hard Rock Hotel. Kelly (from Ender News) and I got to go to the party and briefly said hi to Aramis and met moms of both Asa and Aramis, who were very nice!
